Siranush

noun (in Armenian: Սիրանուշ)

  1. forbidden fruit of knowledge of good and evil,

  2. fruit of love and beauty.

I am a scientist and investor, and sometimes an artist.

I invest primarily at Fundomo. I co-founded this early stage deep tech fund and we make concentrated investments and serve as extension of our portfolio’s teams.

I research at

  • Stanford University, where I am a Biophysics PhD student with Mike Snyder’s lab working on making new tools for biotech (3x fellowships: Knight Hennessy, National Science Foundation Graduate Research and ADVANCE, as well as Hertz finalist)

  • Xapiens, a student group I co-founded at MIT that grew into an independent entity where we also develop new tools aimed to understand and augment human biology

  • as an independent, advising and licensing IP from outside of academia to companies in biotech

I do art and dance and work on language and translation projects when I can. I worked on creating physical and digital immersive paradigms that allow us to transcend limitations of perception, created written scripts for widely used languages and more. Most notable current art work (at spearheading Neoperception initiative) revolves around multimedia neuromorphic art pieces and product design that help extending the common and damaged capabilities of human brain. This website an outdated collection of some (mainly art) projects I've worked on over the past years.

On where I came from: I grew up in a post-Soviet war-torn state. After winning 4 International Olympiads in Science and multiple National Olympiads, I studied Physics and Computer Science at MIT, researched terraformation at NASA, and ways to read/non-invasively interact with microstructures in a brain at the Synthetic Neurobiology lab. In parallel, I conglomerated MIT’s largest teams for fashion design and photography for MIT’s Infinite magazine, as well as initiated a few award-winning (National Geographics, largest grant of CAMIT, Director’s grant) art-meets-science collaborations.
